Hanneke Kamphuis is a freelance designer and teacher.
She graduated in fashion design at ArtEZ, University of the Arts in Arnhem.
She currently works here as a textile and print design teacher.
Kamphuis specialized as a print designer and trend consultant and worked with many different clients in fashion and interior design. With also teaching positions at various academies.
In the early years of Frame Publishers BV, she worked together on inspiring articles about textiles, interior forecast and design graduates. Two books were also compiled, including a book on color, Color Hunting, how color influences What We Buy, Make and Feel.
She was also a guest curator for three different exhibitions, including on lace, The Other Side of Lace, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, Face of Lace for the Bruges museums and Repeat Please, SM's Hertogenbosch.
After 35 years, in addition to commercial assignments, there is now more room for our own projects, often with a more illustrative or narrative character. This is close to the original commissioned work, because you also tell a story in trend forecasting. You combine new materials, colors and shapes in such a way that it becomes a coherent story that can provide direction to purchasing, for example.
Creating illustrations is of course also part of pattern design.
In her spare time, drawing from observation or in nature was a frequently practiced passion and other projects are now developing from this, which are the start of a new portfolio: seed bags for Loofwerk, a series of designs for ceramics and illustrations for a children's book.
